How to choose a tailor who delivers on time

A good tailor gets your measurements right the first time and delivers when they say. Most disappointments come from unclear briefs and late starts, both easy to avoid.

Give a clear brief

• Bring a picture of the style and point out what you want copied (neckline, sleeves, length).
• Agree the fabric amount before you buy, so you don't run short.
• Mention anything special: stones, embroidery, lining, pockets.

Agree the date, then add a buffer

Ask for the delivery date in the chat, and set it at least a week before your event. Arrange a fitting halfway through. That's when small changes are cheap and quick.

Prices

Price depends on the style, embellishment and how busy the season is. December and wedding seasons are busier, and rush jobs often cost 20–50% more. Paying part when you drop the fabric and the rest at collection is normal.

Try it on before you pay the balance. Check the seams, zips and buttons and whether it sits well when you sit down.
